Whilst plenty in the community continue to take precautions against virus transfer, Goulburn trainers have been sharing the ‘winning bug’ in recent times.
Racing returns to the tablelands on Monday with Goulburn Race Club hosting its first meeting for 2022 and the local contingent will be keen to continue the winning run.
Since Tash Burleigh’s historic Goulburn Cup ‘repeat’ win with Al Mah Haha in late October, it feels like tablelands trainers have had winners flowing into winners, and the numbers back that up.
Scotty Collings has been making hay since producing a winning treble on the Gundagai Cup program in mid-November. Collings has peeled off another five winners since, including an all Goulburn quinella with Danny Williams (Shelby Sixtysix) in the TAB Highway Handicap at Royal Randwick on December 11.
Williams has also made a charge back into the winner’s circle of late, bagging five winners since saluting at Goulburn in early November. His latest offering a winning double at Queanbeyan last Monday.
Mark Gee has found his country grade mojo again with five winners since the start of December, the much improved Platara having gone back to back recently.
Kurt Goldman has also got in on the act, training five winners since the start of November, the most recent being Important Product on last Sunday’s Cowra Cup program.
Danielle Seib has trained four winners in the same window of opportunity including a win at Goulburn’s most recent Christmas Cup meeting, thanks to promising stayer Leather Jacket Lew. She also produced Hemmerle to win at Moruya last week.
Pat Murphy’s training venture continues to show promise, he too notching four blue ribbon results since early November. Murphy has two acceptors on Monday including last start mile winner Affiliate.
Local trainers are well represented across the seven-race card on Monday, particularly early doors. Punters keen to tag the winning run of Goulburn trainers have plenty of options (current TAB Fixed Odds shown).
