With the focus firmly on the female and in particular Mums this Sunday, the Goulburn card sets up nicely for those keen to find a winner or two courtesy of the fairer sex.
In recent times Goulburn results have had a strong female influence with winning numbers going the way of people like Amanda Turner, Tash Burleigh, Kathy O’Hara and Alysha Collett to name just a few.
Sunday could easily throw up a similar pattern.
Amanda Turner trained tearaway winner Super Vino at the previous Goulburn meeting and heads back to the tablelands on Sunday with four runners. It could be a ‘mister’ she relies on though for a winning Mother’s Day result with Mr Cantankerous ($7) and Mr Resilient ($26) both accepted.
Kathy O’Hara has a strong record at the Goulburn track and has a full book of rides of Sunday. She rides three for Turner on the program and is in winning form after securing a victory at Wagga during the week.
The last time Alysha Collett rode at Goulburn the tablelands track proved a happy hunting ground as she netted a win, a runner up and a third placing from three rides. Collett has near full book of rides at Goulburn, book-ending a busy weekend for the in-demand hoop with eight rides also a lock at Newcastle on Saturday.
Tash Burleigh is in a rich vein of form of late and produced To The Nines to win in progressive fashion at the last Goulburn meet. She has last start winner Princess Spice ($17) in the opening race and will look to kick the day off in strong style for the female brigade. Tulla Park ($3.70) also looks capable of a bounce back result in Race 3 for the stable.
Goulburn has seven races to be run and won on Sunday and being Mother’s Day there’s a complimentary glass of bubbly for all Mums as well as a ‘pamper hamper’ to be won.
Despite the wet week Goulburn’s track is inching away from the Heavy 10 posted at acceptance time and was rated a Heavy 9 on Saturday morning. With a fine weekend forecast further steady improvement is expected for the tablelands surface.
