At Goulburn on Tuesday there are ten female jockeys competing across eight races with a total of twenty-two rides…and what really matters about that statistic is the fact that all ten now get to utilise the significantly upgraded female jockey rooms.
It might not sound like much to write home about but for anyone who has ever raced at Goulburn in the middle of the year they know a reliable hot shower can be an invaluable part of a female jockey’s recovery routine!
Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife is pleased that the club has been able to give the project final sign off.
“The female jockey rooms upgrade has been an important part of our priority list for a long time now,” Ms Fife offered.
“With the ongoing upward trend in the female riding ranks and their participation rates in our industry it’s a timely investment.”
Ms Fife added that the project has been a cooperative initiative.
“Goulburn Race Club has partnered with Racing NSW Country to help make the project a reality”.
“Local contractors managed the project from start to finish which is also a great result for our local economy”
“The investment made as part of the refurbishment has meant that amenities have significantly improved with more showers, more toilets, more than four times the number of bays than previously and much more room generally.”
Timely indeed with Autumn just around the corner!
Punter’s could also pay to upgrade their range finder to a female friendly setting for Tuesday’s eight race card with the femme fatale brigade in charge of their own destiny in a number of races, i.e.
