Get the chores done early and get trackside this Sunday for Goulburn District Race Club’s
$200 000 ‘Goulburn Australia’ Goulburn Cup.
It’s the club’s biggest day of thoroughbred racing with that unique country racing feel and the promise of plenty of action on and off the track.
Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife says there’s plenty of incentive for racegoers to get trackside on Cup day.
“The day offers a rare opportunity for locals and visitors to get up close and personal to high class thoroughbred action and witness the skill of some of Australia’s best male and female jockeys.”
“It’s a reinvigorated edition this year with a new presenting partner (Goulburn Australia) and a change of date for what has always been a mainstay community event in Goulburn,” Ms. Fife said.
It is also a pivotal race for trainers and owners looking to secure a golden pass into the $3m Big Dance held in early November.
“This Sunday’s Goulburn Australia Goulburn Cup offers Big Dance eligibility to the winner and is ideally positioned ten weeks out from the $3-million-dollar Big Dance held at Royal Randwick on Tuesday 5th November,” Ms. Fife added.
On the other side of the fence there’s plenty of opportunities for racegoers to go home with that winning feeling as well.
All on track patrons will be eligible to enter the draw for a Jamala Wildlife Lodge package at Canberra Zoo valued at $3000. Seib Racing is supporting Fashions on the Field with total prizes valued at $3000 across a number of categories.
The $200 000 ‘Goulburn Australia’ Goulburn Cup will be run over 1400m and has become a sort after CV addition for any stable.
In recent years it has attracted entries from some of the strongest stables in Australia including Chris Waller, Gai Waterhouse / Adrian Bott, team Hawkes, Bjorn Baker and James Cummings to name just a few.
Local stables such as Matthew Dale, Danny Williams, Pat Murphy, Danielle Seib and Tash Burleigh should also have a strong representation on the program.
There’s almost half a million dollars in prizemoney on offer across eight races with key support races on the day including:
- The Graeme Spackman Goulpro Country Magic ($50 000 Benchmark 66 over 1600m)
- The Newgate Farm The Guy Walter ($50 000 Class 3 Fillies & Mares 1300m).
There are still some great hospitality options available with The Winning Post Package a real winner at $55 inclusive of admission, three drink tickets and a $15 food voucher.
There’s also full TAB, bar and catering facilities on track.
