The rain blob that cut short Saturday’s Rosehill meeting missed Goulburn, ensuring that the tablelands club will host its first race meeting of the winter on Monday with the eight-race card the sole meeting in NSW.
The tablelands track is currently sitting in the Soft 7 range so punters should still be doing their form around a genuine winter style track.
The early TAB Fixed Odds on the program has pegged the majority of the eight races as open and competitive affairs.
Race 1, The Goulburn Mulwaree Council Maiden Plate over 1200m sets the tone for the day with the Bjorn Baker trained Shalmum ($3.10) just shading Kembla Grange visitor Show Pony ($3.70) for Mitch Beer. The latter won a trial on a genuinely heavy track prior to this campaign before a brave runner-up result on a Heavy 9 rated track at Kembla Grange last start.
Locally trained gallopers should also make their presence felt on the program as they make up almost twenty percent of the original acceptors.
Danielle Seib (Bledisloe $4.40) and Anthony Warren (Bounty By Knight $3.30) head up the early market on Race 4, The Semco Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1500m). Bounty By Knight earning early favouritism courtesy of his steady progress in two starts for a new stable.
Seib also has the improving Griffinstown Girl sitting on the $6.00 line in Race 5, The Aaron Grant Electrical B58 Hcp (1550m). Former Kiwi and Mitch Beer trained Vegas Dream is a solid first elect in the race ($3.00) thanks to a strong first up showing at Albury and early career wet track credentials.
Scott Collings and Pat Murphy also have a firm local hold on the early TAB Fixed Odds market for Race 7, The Radio Goulburn Country Boosted Class One Hcp over 1200m. Aunty Ginny (Collings- $2.80) and Joyner (Murphy -$3.50) are both coming off top two finishes last start and have each found a low draw.
The opening race at Goulburn on Monday is timed to go at 12.05pm with the track currently rated a Soft 7 and the rail at +4m the entire circuit.
