Goulburn Cup Day is fast approaching with Sunday 30th October the day the tablelands club will roll out its lucrative blue-ribbon schedule.
The feature is the Goulburn Soldiers Club Goulburn Cup and apart from being a $200 000 target race, the contest is also first cab off the rank for those chasing Big Dance Eligibility status for 2023.
Goulburn trainer Tash Burleigh was considering an unprecedented crack at a ‘three-peat’ in her home cup with Al Mah Haha but “Big Al’ now has a pleasant $2 million dance floor date. The gelding looks assured a start in this year’s inaugural $2m Big Dance (1st November) at Royal Randwick courtesy of his Goulburn Cup win over Steely in 2021.
Supporting the 2022 Goulburn Soldiers Club Goulburn Cup on the 30th October will be a strong support program valued at $260 000 (excludes Cup).
Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife believes the program stacks up really well this year.
“There are competitive racing options for horses and connections considering coming from just up the road or from anywhere across NSW,” Ms Fife said.
“It’s another opportunity for us to showcase high quality racing action and the skills of some of the best jockeys in the state.”
“Along with the Big Dance qualifying opportunity via the Cup, there will also be two country only races on the schedule as well as showcase prizemoney on offer across all races.”
