Spendthrift Australia will be continuing their partnership with Goulburn Race Club and the Goulburn Cup program in 2019.
Spendthrift has confirmed its involvement in the club’s blue ribbon day of racing through their sponsorship of The Guy Walter; a fillies and mares Class 3 race held on Cup Day (3rd November) dedicated to the late trainer.
Winning connections of the race will receive a complimentary service to exciting young stallion Overshare, an outstanding son of I Am Invincible who stands at Spendthrift Stud Australia.
The service is valued at $11,000, and considerably sharpens the race’s appeal and represents a major ‘value add’ to the $50,000 in prizemoney and potential BOBS Bonus of up to $19,250 already on offer.
Goulburn Race Club CEO Robyn Fife has welcomed Spendthrift’s renewed involvement in 2019.
“The relationship between Goulburn Race Club and Spendthrift Australia is a perfect fit with The Guy Walter,” Ms Fife said.
“It is an appropriate recognition for the renowned horseman and highly regarded trainer, Guy Walter, who is sadly missed.”
“The race is also an opportunity for our club to offer a genuine fillies and mares option for owners and trainers on Cup Day.”
“We are thrilled to have the support of Spendthrift Australia for Cup Day, and this initiative provides owners with the exciting potential opportunity to breed a future winner as well!”
Spendthrift Australia General Manager Garry Cuddy is delighted to renew the agreement and take the sponsorship to the next level.
“We are privileged to continue our association with the Goulburn District Race Club in honouring one of racing’s true gentlemen, Mr. Walter,” Mr. Cuddy said.
“This year, winning connections of The Guy Walter will secure a complimentary nomination to our multiple Stakes winning son of Champion sire I Am Invincible, Overshare.”
Mr. Cuddy said the young sire is already making his presence felt amongst the racing fraternity.
“He is a young stallion we are proud to stand on our roster and his first foals are impressing breeders immensely.”
