Runners Up Ready to Step Up (Goulburn – Friday)

Runners Up Ready to Step Up (Goulburn – Friday)

At Goulburn on Friday five locally trained gallopers who finished runner up in their last contest will look to turn those twos into a one on their home track.

John Bateman will get the ball rolling with The Bluesmobile in Race 2 (Pure Image Signs CG&E Maiden Hcp over 1300m). The gelding showed sharp improvement at just his second start when nosed out of a win at Wagga last time out. Both starts to date have been away from home and he should appreciate getting a look at his home track for the first time.

Goulburn locals have also really thrown their support behind the Revolution Print Country Only Maiden (Race 4), with eight of the final acceptors calling the tablelands home. Danny Williams looks to hold a strong hand in the race, saddling up No No Ninnette and Pisa My Heart. Both horses have finished runner up in their one race each to date.

No No Ninnette resumes after a runner up result at the Sapphire Coast on debut over the summer and looks open to improvement this time in whilst Pisa My Heart was in front throughout the race and everywhere bar the judge’s photo at Canberra on debut over a 1000m.

The locals also boast another three gallopers in the race with Wayne Hudd giving Foxy Jan a look at her home track after a promising debut at Canberra whilst Sarah Murray-Leslie (Danetree Belle) and Kurt Goldman (Clearly Regal) also saddle up debutantes in the race. Tash Burleigh (Dougalugs & Port Of Jedah) and John Bateman (Nothing Yet) also have three of the four emergencies in the race.

Tash Burleigh will be hoping two’s just a number come Friday. She has Hold All Tickets in Race 5 (Divalls Earthmoving B58 Hcp 1600m) and Luxurial in Race 7 (Goulburn Mazda F&M B58 Hcp 1200m). They both look to go one better than their runner up results last time out at Canberra and Goulburn respectively. Despite having won just the one race to date the consistent Hold All Tickets flags a handy form line. He chased home Highly Desired last start at Goulburn and that galloper narrowly missed out on going back to back at Kembla Grange on Tuesday.

Burleigh is happy with the way both of her charges are ticking over heading into Friday.

“They have both trained on well since those runs,” Burleigh offered.

“Both horses go into the same style of race that they raced really well in last start and we are hoping for another bold showing from them”.

Across the eight race card at Goulburn on Friday local trainers are throwing the proverbial kitchen sink at the $176 000 in prizemoney on offer, accounting for a quarter of all acceptors.

Friday’s meeting looks a deep one form wise with horses from a host of city stables (think Baker, Snowden, Coyle and Freedman) also taking the trip down the Hume in search of a fruitful Friday.

Goulburn’s track is currently rated a Good 4 with the tablelands having had a week of cool nights and sunny days leading up to Friday’s meeting.
