BREEZE SEEKS DAY IN THE ‘SUN’ AT GOULBURN

BREEZE SEEKS DAY IN THE ‘SUN’ AT GOULBURN

Tablelands training partners Keith Dryden and Scott Collings head to Goulburn on Sunday with four gallopers all in handy form but it could be their most lightly raced charge, Breezesun, who shines brightest.

Breezesun is a full brother to stablemate Bull Bailey (racing at Canberra Friday) both being sired by “Haradasun” and foaled out of the same mare “Virginia Breeze”.

Breezesun made a good fist of his debut run at Canberra over a short course trip, banking his owners the minor prizemoney for third.

Prior to that the horse had won a trial at Goulburn and returns to his home track for another crack at a sprint trip. Trainer Scott Collings is looking forward to seeing the horse improve off his debut run.

“I thought it was a very nice run and it is always great for your horses to collect prize money for their owners,” Mr Collings said

“But he is still learning his craft. We would like to see him settling better than his first run and then really hitting the line at the end of his race.”

The stable is happy to restrict him to shorter trips at this stage of his campaign.

“At this stage for his first couple of runs yes. He is only at the beginning of his career so there is plenty of time for that later on.”

Breezesun’s stablemates Kianga, Confidential and Chadana accompany him to the tablelands track on Sunday and all of the trio have a bit of form about their recent efforts.

Collings acknowledges it’s a competitive day of racing on Sunday but is just pleased to have the horses racing well.

“Kianga should run well on the very big spacious track here at Goulburn, but the barrier draw is not in our favour. Confidential ran very well very well last start and we are hoping to improve on that second up whilst Chadana has a wide draw which makes it trickier with her as she is a horse that can overrace without cover.”

Goulburn’s seven race card has attracted a strong list of acceptors including visitors from city stables such as Peter & Paul Snowden, Bjorn Baker and Gary Moore. The locals will also send plenty of ammunition to the racescontributing a combined 21 acceptors.

Goulburn District Race Club CEO Robyn Fife says all is on order for a competitive day of racing.

“Sunday racing is a great opportunity for the club to showcase our track and facilities to a weekend audience not just locally but around the country through Racing NSW and its broadcast partners,” Ms Fife said.

“Our track is currently rated a Good 4 and fine weather is forecast for the weekend so we look forward to producing a racing surface that gives every horse, be it local or visiting, their chance.”
